it starts with a lake lit by moonlight
the silent embrace of the sun in the surface
broken by the self-conscious encounter
of a young limber body almost eighteen
wearing nothing but his brave naked skin
embarked on a dare of a girl’s sweet sixteen
he runs to the shore where the water begins
its story of a liquid deep and eternal embrace
he shivers and becomes aware of his hardening
nipples his stiffening skin before he dives in
the cold and lonely arms to which he surrenders
make him sad as a boy and known as a man
when he rises up from the surface again
dripping with water his chest and his face
glistening with the remains of waters embrace
smiling in the dark but moonlit night
his teeth tell the story of an unknown delight
